3v3 Touch Hockey captured industry attention and earned a nomination for Pocket Gamer’s Mobile Game of the Year in 2023. Following its initial success, we were brought in to lead a comprehensive graphic overhaul. Taking the existing visual foundation and upgrading every asset to modern mobile gaming standards.
The Baseline & Legacy Visuals
The original release delivered fast-paced multiplayer action, but the visual elements were minimalist. Our mission was to modernize the game models and equipment without changing the core gameplay feel or introducing performance lag.
Deep Dive & Technical Details
Creating detailed assets for mobile requires strict control over geometry and textures. We remastered the complete equipment set including the hockey goal, three stick variants, skates, and a helmet. Still keeping the total scene complexity to lightweight 2,278 triangles.
Custom-textured using Substance Painter and Photoshop.
Total set polygon count: 2,278 tris.
Conclusion
By combining optimized technical art pipelines with 3D visualization, we provided a complete graphic refresh that meets modern mobile standards.
We started with a clear plan for the asset structure and optimization budget. Working together as a two-person team, we completed the modeling, texturing, and technical setup in just two workdays.
The project met all performance targets, and the original developer was very pleased with the final visual update.
